Chasing Anomalies is a small site run by David Stiger. This page explains, in plain language, what the site collects and what happens to it. I don't sell or rent personal information, and the site sets no advertising or tracking cookies.

Email signup

If you join the email list I store your email address, your first name if you give one, and which form you used. I send the emails myself. Every email will include a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect right away.

Anomaly reports

If you send a report, I store what you enter in the form (name, email, category, title, description, links, location, when it was observed, and whether it's OK to feature it) and email a copy to myself so I can read and reply. I only feature a report publicly if you said that's OK.

Merch orders

Payment is handled by Stripe on Stripe's own checkout page. I never see or store your card details. After a successful payment I receive and store your name, email, phone number, shipping address, the items ordered and the amounts paid, so the order can be fulfilled and for my business and tax records. Your name, shipping address, email and phone number are passed to Printful, which prints and ships the order. Stripe may also calculate sales tax from your address.

Technical data and spam protection

When you submit a form or start a checkout, the site records your IP address, approximate country, browser user agent and referring page to detect spam and abuse, and to limit how fast one person can submit forms. I delete spam-flagged form entries after 30 days, and remove the IP address, user agent and referrer from stored entries and orders after 90 days.

Hosting, analytics and outside content

Stored in your browser

The merch crate (cart) and your chosen shipping country are saved in your browser's local storage so they survive a reload. They never leave your device until you check out. You can clear them by emptying the crate or clearing site data.

Where it's stored and who can see it

Submissions and orders are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database and in my email. Only I have access.

Your choices

To see, correct or delete what I hold about you, or with any question about this page, use the contact form on davidstiger.com. Order records I need for tax and accounting may have to be kept, but I'll tell you if that applies.
